Happy New Year

We can't believe it is time to start another chapter with a new year.  It is amazing how quickly 2015 wrapped up and that the  holidays have come and gone.

November and December were quite busy months; mostly offsite. We added a holiday decorating service for our clients and we enjoyed every minute of it.  So much of our daily job is behind the scenes so when we install a project it is so fulfilling.

On top of that we had a successful turnout for the Annapolis DeColArt Show House in December.  The Show House raised money for the Wellness House and we were able to showcase our talents and meet so many amazing people in and around Annapolis.

The upcoming year brings great new projects, amazing clients and so many opportunities. We hope to share more on the blog this year of our behind the scenes, projects and design inspiration.

Let's make this the sweetest year yet!

DeColArt Design Show House

The countdown has officially begun and the transformation is underway in our Loft bedroom for the Annapolis Show House.

This project is a collaboration among local interior design firms and artists. The proceeds benefit the Annapolis Wellness House; which provides free services and programs to those who have been touched by cancer.

The location is the Parish House Executive Suites. It was originally constructed between 1895-1897 in the Annapolis Historic District. The historic site retains all of its original exterior architecture and the interior has been transformed into modern condominiums.

When we did our first tour of the home we were struck by the bedroom on the loft floor. The bedroom has exposed beams which were appealing but also overlooks the beautiful century old stain glass window. The room presents a challenge with lower ceiling heights and unusual layout...but no problem a designer can't solve!

Inspired by the stain glass and architecture we decided to treat this room as a perfect retreat for the homeowner. The overall design theme is modern chic for the condo and it is up to each design firm to translate into their rooms. We played up the balance between femininity and strength from the architecturally strong lines. The unexpected color of inspiration from the stain glass that we chose was pink. It is a color that is underutilized but is also very calming. The design is balanced by textures and patterns which are unexpected combinations.

This has been such an amazing experience to be a part of and cannot wait to share our room with everyone.

The Show House will be open from December 10-15, 2015 from 10am-6pm each day and ticket prices are $20. The address is 39-1/2 Maryland Ave, Unit 2, Annapolis, MD, at the corner of Prince George St.
