Cozy Up

Daylight savings time is just around the corner and we are just a few weeks away from our first frost.  Time to plan for some warming up the stylish way!  It’s time to invest in some items that will really make life comfortable and have you running through the front door to snuggle up!  Why not do your holiday shopping in front of the fireplace, under a new blanket, with slipper socks and pretty pj's while drinking a spiced tea.  This is the time to get ready.  The holidays are just around the corner and it is vitally important that you plan for some peaceful time cuddled up with loved ones, pets or just quite time to yourself.

Right now find a new blanket for your couch.  Something that you can’t live without.  If you can afford it, buy several. One for everyone.  It doesn’t have to be expensive but must be SOFT and washable.  Plaids are particularly hot this season.  Cashmere is the ultimate but not a great idea with kids or pets.

Next is a subtle but scented seasonal candle.  I tend not to go for the typical fall flavors like apple orchard or pumpkin pie.  Choose something that is really subtle and won’t overpower the room.  We at Dream House Studios are in the process of designing our own candles so check back with us for a fresh springtime scent:)!

Next is cozy clothing.  This is so personal depending on your personal temperature.  I like to wear layers but for sure I am in need of warm slippers. Take a look at all of these images.  Makes me ready for some snow!

Start making a list of books, movies, letters you should write.  You know, the stuff you don’t have much time for.  Plan ahead so that you are ready to relax.  Just writing this is making wish it was snowing outside!

Also, choose a list of yummy bites that you would like to eat while lounging.  Make sure to keep it simple.  The idea is to spend time relaxing, not cooking.  Find quick fix menus, crock pot dishes or gourmet cheese, crackers and fruit.

Last but most importantly…mood.

Obviously if you have a fireplace it is ON. If not, add some twinkle lights somewhere to make an instant magical mood.  For me this is the most precious time to cuddle up whether it is with my husband, kids, dog or by myself.

A perfect time to reflect on my many, many blessings and recharge for another day.  Life is good when we cuddle up COZY!!!
